The energy sector is undergoing one of the most significant transformations in its history. As the transition towards a more decarbonised, interconnected and digitally enabled energy system accelerates, access to trusted, transparent and high-quality data has never been more important.

Data increasingly underpins decision-making, supports innovation, enables market efficiency and helps industry participants navigate a rapidly changing landscape.

Against this backdrop, Xoserve is launching its draft Digitalisation strategy, inviting Customers and Stakeholders to help shape the next phase of its digital and data journey.

Our draft strategy has been shaped by customer feedback, industry engagement, assurance activity and evolving regulatory expectations. It also aligns with Ofgem’s recent Data Best Practice.

It sets out an ambition to support a more connected and future-ready market through three core objectives:

  • Improving the transparency and accessibility of gas market data.
  • Enhancing stakeholder experience through clearer, more intuitive and more consistent digital services.
  • Supporting greater interoperability and standardisation across data and digital platforms.

Together, these objectives are designed to help ensure that data can be accessed and used more effectively by market participants, while supporting wider industry ambitions around innovation, decarbonisation and whole-system collaboration.

Consultation period

As part of the launch of our Draft Digitalisation Strategy, Customers and Stakeholders are invited to share feedback on priorities, identify opportunities for improvement and help shape the actions that will ultimately support delivery of the strategy, while contributing to a wider conversation on how data and digital capabilities can support a modern, transparent and increasingly interconnected energy market.

Feedback gathered during the consultation period will be used to refine the strategy ahead of its initial publication, and inform the accompanying Digitalisation Action Plan, which will set out how priorities will be delivered, monitored and evolved over time.

By working together, we can ensure data continues to support innovation, transparency and collaboration, helping create the foundations for a more resilient, efficient and future-ready energy system.

More information on how to provide feedback during the next consultation period is available on our dedicated Digitalisation strategy webpage.

The deadline for feedback is 28 August.

In summary

The transition to net zero, the growth of whole-system planning, the emergence of new technologies and increasing interaction between gas and electricity markets are creating new demands on data infrastructure. Trusted data will play an ever more important role in supporting market resilience, enabling future green gases, improving operational efficiency and helping industry participants respond to changing customer and policy requirements.

For Xoserve, digitalisation represents an opportunity to build on its role as a trusted custodian of industry data while helping create a more connected and future-ready market.
