100% hydrogen

Using 100% hydrogen produces no carbon dioxide and so allows the network to be fully decarbonised.

It’s assumed if this scenario were to happen the hydrogen network would be operating alongside the natural gas network.

Medium impact on CDSP systems

  • CDSP systems could operate effectively within a fully hydrogen-based network with relatively limited changes if implemented as a standalone system.
  • However, running a 100% hydrogen network in parallel with natural gas or blended gas would require substantial effort to manage two distinct regimes concurrently.
  • The changes required in this scenario relate primarily to system functionality to enable parallel operation, rather than settlement or process changes, and are therefore less complex than those associated with the 20% hydrogen blend scenario.
