Switching programme (CSS)
Find out about the changes we introduced for a new Centralised Switching Service (CSS). View updates and access documents relating to the programme.
On Monday 18 July we launched the new Central Switching Service (CSS)
We have created several training modules that outline all the changes we implemented in this programme.
What is the switching programme (CSS)?
Ofgem, the energy regulator for Great Britain’s energy industry, introduced a programme aimed at improving consumer switching. These improvements needed to help consumers switch Suppliers more easily and with greater confidence.
The switching programme replaced existing switching services with a new Centralised Switching Service (CSS).
How was Xoserve involved in the programme?
We worked with Ofgem to deliver the programme, which involved changes to the switching process for Shippers and Suppliers.
To help the CSS function, we made consequential changes within UK Link and Gemini.
Other areas affected by the CSS programme included:
- data entry
- interfaces or interactions between Shippers and Suppliers
- processes being managed or maintained by the new CSS
This work was called the Central Switching Service Consequential (CSSC) programme.
How we reported on our progress
We shared updates with our customers through our:
- CSSC programme update
- weekly programme status reports
You can access these updates and reports below.
CSSC programme final update: 20 June 2022
In May we moved into the second of three implementation phases
This involved activating APIs between UK Link and Landmark’s CSS system to successfully send updates back and forth.
We’re targeting a go-live date of Monday 18 July
We’re currently focusing on the final preparatory steps needed for go-live. This includes working with all parties to confirm everything is ready and in place.
We’ve messaged all current Data Enquiry Service (DES) users, ahead of the move to the Gas Enquiry Service (GES)
Our account managers have contacted all current DES users, ahead of the move to the GES. To avoid any disruption to your current access, you’ll need to ensure you are set up correctly for go-live.
For more information on this, please email ges.transition@xoserve.com.
Future training and awareness
We’re committed to helping our customers through this change. We’ll continue to update this web page with key information about the programme and any important changes.
In the meantime, access our online training module to get an overview of all the changes expected as part of CSS.
